Coldplay est un groupe de rock alternatif britannique formé à Londres en 1998. Il est composé de Chris Martin (voix, Piano, guitare), Guy Berryman (guitare basse), John Buckland (guitare) et Will Champion (batterie). Coldplay est engagé dans des causes sociales tel le commerce équitable et soutient également des groupes de pression comme Amnesty International. Le 15 janvier 2006, le groupe annonce qu'il arrête de chanter pour "de nombreuses années" provoquant un froid dans la salle des BritAwards et certainement partout dans le monde ; mais il s'avère que Chris Martin voulait juste dire que le groupe allait faire une pause. ça c'est LE titre que j'ai toujours aimé. laissez vos com.and enjoy... Le groupe jazz rap The Roots émerge en 1989 à Philadelphie aux Etats-Unis. Deux ans auparavant, le rappeur Tariq Trotter, alias Black Thought, et le batteur Ahmir Khalib Thompson, alias ?uestlove, se rencontrent sur les bancs de la Philadelphia High School for Creative Performing Arts. Ils jouent aux alentours de leur école avec le bassiste Leon Hubbard, alias Hub, et le rappeur Malik B. Ils se font connaître petit à petit dans des clubs à Philadelphie et à New York. The Roots enregistre son premier album Organix en 1993, qui est en vente uniquement pendant ses concerts. Deux ans plus tard, le groupe signe chez une major et sort l'album Do You Want More?!!!??!, produit sans aucun sample. L'album est peu reconnu par la communauté rap mais séduit le milieu alternatif. The Roots passe sur la scène secondaire du festival rock américain Lollapalooza et au Montreux Jazz Festival en Suisse. L'human beat box Razhel the Godfather of Noyze et Scott Storch intègre la formation. En 1996, The Roots enregistre l'album Illadelph Halflife qui contient le single Clones. Trois ans plus tard, il signe le disque Things Fall Apart, puis The Roots Come Alive. 2002 marque le retour de The Roots qui signe l'excellent Phrenology. Cet opus contient de nombreuses collaborations fructueuses avec Nelly Furtado, Mos Def, Jill Scott, Cody Chesnutt, Musiq ou encore Talib Kweli. Après une longue tournée mondiale, le groupe de Philadelphie revient en avril 2004 avec un nouvel album: The Tipping Point, qui comporte une fois de plus quelques invités de marque: Floetry, Vernon Reid,Musiq...
